Wedding Speech Example for the Bride’s Father

In this article I decided to show you an example of wedding speech which could help you get an idea about how you should structure it. Being among the first ones to give a speech at a wedding reception, it’s important to be really prepared and to know exactly what you intend to say and how you want to say it. This template is an useful one and you can use it any way you want to! Just make sure that the style we have used here matches your needs and expectations (also, if you want more examples of speeches, click here).

“Dear guests,

I want to show my appreciation towards all the people who came here today. You have shown us that you honored our invitations and you have shown us that you appreciate this beautiful couple, my daughter and her husband. They are beautiful, aren’t they?

Sarah and Peter met back in 2012. Wow, what, just one year after knowing each other? Yes, people, you should know that it doesn’t always depend on time being long and passing, it depends on honest feelings and that unique feeling when you see someone and you know you can live your entire life with that person! It’s a sparkle within the eyes of a person that tells you ‘hey, I am the one you were looking for’.

Actually, this is what happened with Peter. He told me how he simply saw my daughter, Sarah, sitting with a newspaper and drinking her morning coffee. He told me how he couldn’t go further, because she never felt anything like this before. So Peter went there and confidently asked Sarah if she would mind if he joined her. Sarah was surprised, but couldn’t say no, because she also felt something special about Peter. So yeah, that’s where it had begun for them.

So, they got to drink a first coffee together being like total strangers. Soon, the tables were turned, and the situation changed. They felt after the coffee, after a couple of hours of discussions that they have so many things in common. That’s how Sarah started dating Peter.

I remember the day when Sarah came home with Peter and introduced him to me. I saw their faces from the first time: it was exactly like they were already married and coming back to visit me. They agreed on everything without consulting or agreeing before on those aspects. I liked hanging out with Peter, we agreed and I felt his respect towards me.

I want to tell you Peter, that from the first time I met you, I already considered you to be part of my family. Of course, I have kept a bit of a distance but I have always approached you with a fatherly and with an honest love because I felt it inside that you were the man Sarah needed.

You know, people, it’s special for a father to have a daughter, because a father always feels what her daughter feels and so was I. I always knew if Sarah had great days, as well as I knew when she had bad days. When it was needed, I took her out to make her feel more relaxed and not alone, never alone. You should never let loneliness win in your lives!

I want to let you know, that I totally agree with this marriage. Make sure that you keep my advice if possible, when you decide to have children. My wife and I, we had a rough time when we had Sarah and Andrea. It was hard, because we didn’t learn how to respect each other in those harder days. Learn to respect each other kids! When you have children, it comes with a lot of unexpected situations and different needs. Also, the kids will need a lot of attention, in order to have a healthy childhood and a great time growing up with their parents.

I am thankful to how this wedding was organized and I love you all, I love you all for helping us, I love you all for being here!

Let’s toast for this amazing marriage! Cheers!”
